Australia's move to reform agent regulations is undoubtedly a step aimed at enhancing integrity in international admissions—a move I applaud, given my years of dealing with the complexities of this landscape. Over 27 years, I've encountered countless Indian students who have been misled by unscrupulous agents, leading to lost opportunities and dashed dreams. With these new reforms, students and parents can look forward to a more transparent and reliable admissions process in Australia. However, my advice remains to not rely solely on this regulatory change. Students must rigorously verify the credentials and affiliations of any educational agents they engage with. This could mean requesting their registration and past student success stories. Moreover, use the plethora of information available on official websites of Australian universities and government portals. On top of that, I often tell my students to consult multiple advice channels to cross-check information. Ultimately, while Australia’s reforms are promising, each student and parent must take a proactive stance themselves. By combining this diligent approach with the enhanced regulatory landscape, Indian students can navigate the admissions process with greater confidence and security.
