Format
St Andrews does NOT interview for most undergraduate programmes — admissions are UCAS-based. However, St Andrews places VERY high emphasis on the personal statement and the St Andrews-specific supplementary application question (SAQ), which all applicants must complete. This SAQ effectively functions as a written interview. Exceptions with actual interviews: Medicine (MMI format). For postgraduate taught programmes, most admit on application; some competitive programmes may conduct interviews. St Andrews is Scotland's oldest university (1413) and one of the most selective in the UK.
Duration
Medicine MMI: approximately 60 minutes. Postgraduate interviews (where applicable): 20-30 minutes.

Medicine: trained MMI assessors. Postgraduate: departmental academics.
