New Zealand's remarkable recovery in international student enrolment is a telling sign of its resilience and attractiveness as an educational destination. Over my 27 years in this field, I've seen many countries ebb and flow in their appeal to Indian students, often driven by geopolitical, economic, or health factors. Post-COVID, New Zealand's uptick poses both opportunities and challenges. For Indian students considering undergraduate or master's programs, the message is clear: this is an emerging hotspot. However, with the increase in international enrolments, securing a place in your desired program will become more competitive. What I advise my students is to begin their research and application process early. New Zealand's educational institutions offer high-quality programs, but timely submission of applications will be crucial to securing admission. Given the potential rise in accommodation and living expenses due to increased demand, it’s wise to conduct thorough financial planning. Assess scholarships, on-campus housing opportunities, and part-time work options to gauge real cost implications. The long-term benefits of studying in such a robustly recovering market can be significant, including potential post-study work opportunities and residence options. Seize the chance, but do so with eyes wide open to both the potential and the hurdles.
