The rising visa rejection rates in traditional destinations like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia have indeed encouraged Indian students to look beyond the conventional and consider emerging study locales like Türkiye and Azerbaijan. Over my 27 years in this field, I've consistently seen that while change can feel daunting, it often provides unexpected opportunities. Parents and students need to reassess their educational plans with a strategic approach, considering not just the acceptance rates but also the long-term benefits and career opportunities that these emerging destinations might offer. As attractive as Türkiye's cultural richness and educational opportunities sound, it's crucial to extensively research each country’s educational landscape and legal frameworks, especially regarding work rights and post-study work scenarios. Furthermore, cultural and linguistic preparedness cannot be overstated; successful adaptation involves both academic and social acclimatization. I advise my students to apply to multiple countries to widen their options and to meticulously understand the visa processes and work rights associated with their chosen destinations. Engaging actively with alumni or current students from these countries can provide invaluable insights. Embrace the opportunities that change brings, but do so with a well-charted plan that aligns with your long-term aspirations.
